Understanding if you qualify for the CA Dream Act is the first step toward getting financial aid. Here's what you need to know:

1. AB 540 Requirements

• To be eligible, you must meet the AB 540 criteria. To learn more about AB 540 and how it applies to you, check out the AB 540 Quick Guide.

Ensure your AB 540 Affidavit and other required documents are submitted to LATTC's Admissions & Records office, especially if you’re a new student.

2. GPA & Cal Grant Requirements

• You must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
• To qualify for Cal Grants, your application must be submitted to CSAC by the priority deadlines listed here . Visit Cal Grant Checklist for more information.

The steps to apply

1. Visit the CADAA Website to begin your application.

2. Create Your Account: Answer a few questions to confirm your eligibility.

3. Complete the Application: Work with your parent(s) or spouse (if applicable). If parent information is needed, parent(s) will need to provide an electronic signature.

4. Sign Electronically: Once your application is complete, you’ll electronically sign it.

5. Submit Your Application: After submission, CSAC will typically process your application within a few days. For important deadlines, visit Key Dates.

6. Verify GPA Submission: If applicable, make sure your GPA is submitted at mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov. If you're not sure whether your GPA was submitted - or if you need help figuring out who should submit it (your high school or LATTC) - visit the Dream Resource Center in E5-316 or contact us at (213) 763-5552.

Once you’ve submitted your California Dream Act Application (CADAA), here’s what happens next:

1. California Student Aid Commision (CSAC) Reviews Your Application: This usually happens within a few days to a week.

2. Resubmit If You Need To Make Corrections: If you made an error, be sure to resubmit the application and check the confirmation page.

3. Monitor Your Email & LATTC Portal: Watch for updates, award notifications, and any required documents.

Once your award is granted and Los Angeles Trade-Tech College confirms AB 540 eligibility, GPA, and units, you may receive your funds by check. If you qualify, you may also have the option to receive funds through direct deposit or by opening a BankMobile bank account. Keep an eye on your email for a code from RefundSelection to set up your account and choose your preferred disbursement method. If you require assistance, the Business Office is here to support you.
