About the CDC

Since opening our doors in 1975, the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College Child Development Center has continued to provide a high quality child care program for preschool children. The program is designed to provide free or low cost child care to eligible parents who attend classes, job training, and/or work.

The CDC complies with Title 22 licensing regulations and follows the terms and conditions of Title V State Preschool and General Child Care programs established by the California Department of Education. Children receive a free breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner funded by the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

The Child Development Center believes that the best way to serve children and families is to provide a supportive partnership. We believe that a warm and nurturing atmoshpere is the best environment for both children and adults to learn and grow. Our focus is to provide developmentally appropriate activities for children and to provide opportunities for parents to enhance their parenting skills.

We believe each child is an individual, special, and unique. We recognize that young children are action oriented and learn by hands on experiences. Our program is designed to develop and integrate the social, emotional, cognitive, creative, and physical areas of each child. We provide opportunities to develop self confidence, autonomy, initiative, and cooperative relationships.

The CDC is staffed by fully qualified early childhood teachers. Their expertise is in working with young children and their families. The teachers hold Masters, bachelors, Associates degrees and certificates in child development. The student staff work directly under the supervision of the credentialed faculty. The CDC is a training ground for students pursuing degrees and certificates in child development. The students have the opportunity to apply practical knowledge in child development under the skillful supervision of the teachers. The Child Development Center is considered to be an educational model because of its use of best practices and exemplary curriculum.
