For some, starting their own business is the way to go! If that applies to you, Sparks is a great place to start. Learn all about becoming an independent contractor or setting up a Limited Liability Company.

ITINS

For some of these opportunities, employers or educations may ask you to provide a social security number or an ITIN which is short for An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. This is a tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service meant to be used for individuals in the US who are filing taxes. 

Per the IRS an ITIN does not:

  • Authorize work in the U.S.
  • Provide eligibility for Social Security benefits
  • Qualify a dependent for Earned Income Tax Credit Purposes

However, onced issued an ITIN can be used to open a bank account, buy a house, open an high-yields saving account, apply to life insurance and more!

(Empresario de Negocios - Semillas Para El Future)

Seeds for The Future is a non-credit Entrepreneurship Certificated Pilot-Program funded by Immigrants Rising through the Catalyst Fund. This program is geared for our Undocumented community interested in exploring a small business idea. The program has been implemented to give students the opportunity to obtain the necessary knowledge, resources, and skills needed to establish a small business once the one-year curriculum is completed.


Este programa gratuito, fue establecido específicamente para asistir a nuestra comunidad que tiene interés en explorar los pasos necesarios para establecer su propio negocio. Después de completar 6 clases los estudiantes obtendrán un certificado de Iniciativa Empresarial. Fondos para este programa son proveídos por la organización no lucrativa Immigrants Rising.
