National Voter Registration Day Student organizations throughout the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) are organizing a variety of events in conjunction with National Voter Registration Day on September 25, 2018. The district-wide student voter registration activities are also in response to a call by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and the March for Our Lives organization to ensure young people are empowered to let their voices be heard at the ballot box.
Here at Trade Tech, the ASO is marking National Voter Registration Day in conjunction with Constitution Day outside of Mariposa Hall in the North Quad starting at 11:00am. Find out more about the national registration push at www.nationalvoterregistrationday.org. The day is traditionally held on the fourth Tuesday of every September. Earlier this year, Mayor Garcetti and March for Our Lives, www.marchforourlives.com, announced a Los Angeles-area student voter registration drive that includes the LACCD.
The ASO also will be celebrating Constitution Day, and using the day’s significance to get students excited about taking part in their civic duty. We plan to have the League of Women Voters and the LA County Registrar’s representatives on campus because we want as many students as possible to register to vote in the upcoming election. Students also will be able to receive a free copy of the U.S. constitution.
