Letter to Students May 30, 2020 PDF
Dear LATTC Student:
I am reaching out to make sure that you are okay during what has become a troubling time across the country and in our very own neighborhoods. It's hard to avoid the images of grief and anger that have led to both peaceful protests, but also some violent demonstrations not far from our homes, as well as our college home. I want you to know that currently our campus remains secure and protected. Unfortunately our LACCD headquarters, at Wilshire and Flower, did suffer some damage last evening.
For those of you who must venture out to work or for essential trips, we encourage you to be safe. This is an emotional time when we are still trying to navigate the Covid-19 pandemic as you continue your academic and career journey. Certainly, we understand that many of you have heightened fear, an increased amount of stress, and a deep frustration about what we are seeing right now across our nation. We want you to know that we are in this with you. We as a campus, must act as a family. And like a family, our support is available, unconditional and intentional. Let us know how you are feeling. We need to hear from you and you need to hear from us, so that no one feels alone or disconnected.
I am so very inspired by your resiliency – please do reach out to let us know how you are doing. Your LATTC family is here for you – together we are strong!
