Detailed Course Description:
Advanced training is offered in refinish color mixing and matching of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) paint color codes and chips with the use of color variance charts to ensure proper color matching, mixing, reduction, paint gun operation, and application of paint using proper equipment, air pressure, and spray pattern. This course will enable the refinish technician to properly mix and match factory colors for spot refinish repair of panels with considerable savings in material costs to the repair facility by using Computerized Mixing system, Inventory management system, and VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Log Calculation system. Students will understand paint removal techniques by chemically and mechanically removing paint and prepare surfaces for refinishing in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.
