| Q1. |
What do I do if the computer will not allow me to register online? |
| A1. |
You can wait until the computer system is not as busy. This is oftentimes the easiest way to handle the computer problems. Backup system is to download the paper application, print it, and fax (213-763-5383) or mail it to the campus. (Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to do paper application.) |
| Q2. |
What do I do with the Signature Form at the end of the registration process? |
| A2. |
It is very important that you print, sign, and fax (213-763-5383) or mail the Signature Form to the campus after completing the online registration process. If you do not, you will be billed as an out-of-state resident with high tuition fees. |
| Q3. |
How do I pay for my tuition? |
| A3. |
If you enroll through the telephone registration process, it provides you with an opportunity to pay with a credit card. If you do not, you can total your units, multiply by $18 per unit and send a check to the campus business office with a note providing your student id number and a brief explanation of what the check is for. If you do not pay your fees, there will be a "hold" on your account and you will not be able to register for future classes. |
| Q4. |
Who do I contact if I'm confused about which class to take or which class transfers? |
| A4. |
You should review the Counseling website first, and if you are still confused, send email to a counselor or call the counseling office at 213-763-7154. |
| Q5. |
Do the online classes have special meeting times? |
| A5. |
The online classes do not have pre-arranged meeting times either on campus or on the computer built into their design. We realize that students who take online classes have a need for maximum flexibility in their education schedule. However, a teacher has the option of scheduling pre-arranged meeting times on the computer if they feel it is critical to the class. So check with the teacher of your class to see if they have any. |
| Q6. |
Do I need special software for this class or are they special fees for taking the class online? |
| A6. |
There are no additional fees paid to the college for our online classes. We have built our classes on our own software to avoid the need for students to pay additional fees for fancy course management software. Some teachers could be using textbooks with web sites. If so, there could be a small fee built into the textbook to cover that cost. |
| Q7. |
Who do I contact if I have additional questions about the Placement process? |
| A7. |
Contact Reina Ramirez by email or by phone: 213-763-5351. |
| Q8. |
How do I get my id and password to enter the virtual classroom and begin my course? |
| A8. |
Send email to the instructor of your class. Email id's are listed on the web pages for each of your classes. You should also complete the Welcome Form that is on the homepage for each of your classes. If that fails, contact the teacher by phone, or the counseling center, or the department chair as listed in the campus phone book online. |
| Q9. |
How do I get my textbooks? |
| A9. |
You should get the class syllabus off your class website and see which textbook is required. Some textbooks will include a special CD-ROM or access code for your class and must be purchased from the campus bookstore. You can contact our campus bookstore and buy the book with a credit card. A shipping charge of $5.00 per book will be added. Bookstore phone number is (213) 763-7210. If you don't have the instructor's syllabus, tell the store clerk you are buying for an online class, then give him/her your class name, section #, and instructor's name so they can look it up for you. |
