Architecture
Programs Grow at LATTC
Los
Angeles Trade Tech is the only public educational institution
in Los Angeles County specializing in the field of architecture
that incorporates 3-D modeling, animation, multimedia, digital
design, M.A.P.S./G.I.S., historic preservation, and computer-aided
design in their educational program. The college is a leader
in satisfying workforce demands and transfer needs. These fields
are among the fastest growing in the capital of design, Los
Angeles.
One
important component of all of these programs is the creative
design process. According to the Los Angeles County Economic
Development Corporation, creative industries in Los Angeles
account for 1,057,200 jobs and $121.78 billion in sales revenues
annually in Los Angeles County. Recently, industry experts
met as an advisory group to tour the program facility, talk
to students and faculty and recommend equipment and techniques
to keep the program on the leading edge of technology. Spanish
language television, Channel 34, recorded the event.
Following
is a list of the programs offered in the Architecture program
at LATTC. For more information please contact Marcela

Arch-Tech
ARCHITECTURE TECHNICIANS assist the architect to define, create,
and organize buildings, urban spaces, and cyber-spaces. Architecture
technicians prepare, capture, filter, and prioritize building
parts, from product design to manufacturing, construction,
and maintenance.
DIGITAL
DESIGN studies 3-D object modeling, the design process, and
digital tools. The basic skills developed under this program
are 3-D prototype, visualization, conceptualization, and 3-D
composition using the design process. Fields include stage
design, game design, furniture design, virtual reality, and
interior design.
M.A.P.S./G.I.S.
is a program using a spatial information system for architecture
and urban planning. This career option focuses on the issues
of design and theory as they relate to large systems, such
as transportation, infrastructure, and global communication.
The maps integrate layers of information that visualize scenarios
that solve complicated problems. Interactive maps present
powerful ideas with solutions communicating in new interactive
ways.
MAPPING
LA @ COMMUNITY PLANNING is a new certificate program directly
responding to community needs and the Neighborhood Councils.
Rebuilding the economy of urban communities represents a new,
growing, and exciting career opportunity. LATTC offers an
interdisciplinary program certificate from the Architecture
Environmental Design Discipline M.A.P.S./G.I.S. Program and
Community Planning Program.
CADD

drafting (CAD) systems to prepare drawings. This certificate
is directed to professionals and students in construction
fields who need to update their skills to include CAD technology.
