VocEd Students Celebrate “Tools for The Trade” Nominees
VocEdThe cheers came from both the large departments and the small. They chanted names and applauded their instructors. The culinary students hugged the welding students. International students were among the nominees. Several recipients were emotional. The sign graphics students made a huge banner. Of all events on this campus, there are few things more exciting or more inspiring than the awarding of scholarships. The “Tools for The Trade” rally and nomination announcements created tremendous excitement among the vocational education departments at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. Gathered outside the D-building “fish bowl”, department head Carole Anderson fired up about 300 students supporting the nominees from their disciplines. Thanks to the LATTC Foundation and Foundation president Steve Needleman the “Tools for The Trade” program has been renewed, and scholarships will be awarded for equipment and tools in the various disciplines. These were the nomination announcements drawing cheers from fellow students. The winners of the scholarships will be announced in a couple of weeks. Congratulations to all of the nominees. You make us proud. 080506
