LATTC Students Sew Up Symposium Awards
 Los Angeles Trade-Technical College fashion design students dominated the 2008 edition of the California Community College Fashion Symposium. Students from community colleges throughout California came to the California Fashion Mart in the Los Angeles fashion district to compete. Trade Tech garnered an amazing collection of awards, and once again secured our place as the top community college in California for fashion design.
Nickole Stephens was awarded Best in Show for her stunning black and white evening dress with its wide red belt. In the sportswear category Marcia Nogueira won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (That's right…she swept the category!) as well as wining the denim deconstruction competition with her partner, John Bonifacio.
In the fantasy category Trade Tech again swept the competition. Anne Nguyen won first place, with her fiber optics creation. Marcia Nogueira placed 2nd with her kimono like dress covered with maps and Nickole Stephens placed 3rd with her laminated wood mini dress. There was a tie in the category for h onorable mention with John Bonifacio, who's dress was a salute to photographers and the film industry, and Assad Ayoub for his hoop skirt creation made of painted crumpled tissue paper.
Armando Palacios received an honorable mention for his dress in the short evening wear category and Bonnie Costte won 3rd place in that category. In the category of swimwear, Lidia Au captured 1st place, Asalia Uribe 2nd , and Bonnie Costte got honorable mention. Amy Ueda won 1 st place in category 8 retail merchandising problem. Isriya Korteerakul was awarded an honorable mention for her design presentation board.
This was just a warm-up for Trade Tech with the Gold Thimble Fashion Show coming up May 23rd in the Grand Theater. Mark your calendars. 080422 |
