Network for a Healthy California at LATTC
The Network for a Healthy California (Network) located at LATTC, is a public health campaign that empowers low-income Californians with essential tools to help increase fruit and vegetable consumption and physical activity in their communities.
The group participated in the WeConnect 2008 event here at LATTC. They provided nutrition education and food stamp outreach at each of the WeConnect events. The network was delighted to be able to serve healthy low-cost taste tests, provide cookbooks and nutrition information to the community as well Maria Shriver and Mayor Villaraigosa. By the way, here is a link to Maria's “healthy living” tips. You'll note they mention consuming more fruits and vegetables daily, which is one of the main goals of our program. The network's outreach efforts include special events on campus, as the WeConnect event, nutrition education workshops at the LATTC Child Development Center, and guest lectures on campus. It hopes to expand efforts here at LATTC. 080211 |
