LATTC Culinary Students Are Gingerbread Winners
Merlyn Dangor and Hilda LiraSome great creations took center stage at the annual Gingerbread Bake-Off at the Ayres Hotel in Hawthorne . And as always LATTC students proved to be something special once again. Two of our 4th semester baking students, Merlyn Dangor and Hilda Lira, took the top prize for their French-inspired boulangerie (bakery) all made from gingerbread. Down to the tiny marzipan croissants and baguettes in the bakery's window to the snow angel made from Marzipan, this fanciful prize winning entry garnered a $1000 prize to be shared by the two winners. They also won in the categories of: the gingerbread project exhibiting most difficulty and detail and embodiment of the theme of European winter wonderland. Proceeds from the event went to the Juvenile Epilepsy foundation, LA Chapter. Congratulations to our students! 071220
