"Killa Beavs” Dominate the Gaucho Classic
If you go up against the Trade Tech men's basketball team, you had better be in shape. Their up-and-down style of basketball destroyed the competition at the Saddleback College Gaucho Classic Tournament, and gave Trade Tech the championship for the first time in school history. In the final game, LATTC ran past Long Beach City College 94-78, with a smothering defense, great athleticism and a very deep bench. Trade Tech scholar-athlete Joseph Morgan was named the tournament's MVP and he was joined on the all-tournament team by Trade Tech scholar-athlete Robert Sommers. But the real highlight of the championship was Jamal Clay's thunderous dunk right over the 7-foot center for Beach. It brought the crowd to its feet, gave Trade Tech a 10-point lead, and the Beavs never looked back. The win gives Trade Tech a very impressive 12-and-1 record going into some other holiday action. Make sure you get a chance to support the team. Check out the Beaver icon on the Trade Tech website for a schedule. They are fun to watch and have a chance at making some noise in the conference and the playoffs. 071220 |
