| Area High School Students Tour LATTC
Hundreds of students from nearby Los Angeles high schools paid a visit to Los Angeles Trade-Technical College . It was part of the Financial Aid department's “A College Experience”, a day where students could view the college, learn more about the programs and certificates available, and sign up for financial aid. The students exited their buses and were immediately greeted by members of the A-Team, the Los Angeles Avenger cheerleaders. The students were then given snacks and drinks and sent to the Grand Theater where they learned more about Trade Tech and the history of the college. After the orientation, the students were given tours of many of the LATTC classrooms and programs. Wide-eyed students were seen in culinary arts, welding, machining and automotive. They gathered again in Steven's Square where many other departments presented information about transfer education, EOPS, the Puente Project and of course financial aid. The students were treated to Flava and his Mixers from Power 106 as they enjoyed lunch and took in the college experience. The event was a true success and plenty of congratulations should go to all of the departments that contributed. But an extra special thanks should go to Cecilia Kwan and Ruth Bledsoe for putting all of the pieces together for this major event. It received coverage in La Opinion. 070522 |
