Former KNX Newswriter Joins LATTC Family
LATTC welcomes David Ysais as the new campus Public Relations Specialist. A former newswriter and later the Director of Editorials/Community Services at KNX 1070 Newsradio, David began his career as an intern with the Wall Street Journal/ Newspaper Fund and later worked for the Hartford Courant in Connecticut. Finding the winters too cold for his liking, David returned to California.
Born in East Los Angeles, David, grew up in Pico Rivera. He attended schools in Montebello and Hacienda Heights, where he graduated from Glen A. Wilson High School. He attended Mt. San Antonio College where he worked on the campus radio station and was editor of the campus newspaper. In 1979 David completed a BA in journalism and communications at New Mexico State University.
Several Golden Mike awards for newswriting, including one for an editorial on Mark Fuhrman, which received a national Gold Medallion award grace David's trophy shelf. He is the only radio newswriter outside of New York and Washington to win the Writers Guild Outstanding Newswriting Award.
David is married to an educator and his parents and siblings are all involved in education. David said, “I have seen community college as gateway to success. I walked through it myself, so I know and cherish its value.” 070322 |
