LATTC Bids Adieu to Harris, Welcomes Chapdelaine
When Dr. Tom K. Harris came to us a year ago, we knew it was only temporary, until a new permanent president could be found. He told everybody he had “failed retirement.” During the year, Tom has become a fixture around Trade Tech. His open door and easy manner began to grow on everybody and the campus was revitalized. Under Tom's leadership we celebrated 80 Years of Excellence, ground was broken for the new Child Development Center and a parking structure on the east side of Grand Avenue. As he leaves us, crews are completing work on the demolition of buildings north of the athletic field in preparation for construction of the south campus project. He may have failed retirement, but he gets an “A” grade in moving things along.
Now we prepare to welcome Dr. Roland "Chip" Chapdelaine, coming to us by way of Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Chapdelaine, who according to his biography likes to be called “Chip”, was selected after a careful and extensive nationwide presidential search. We look forward to working with him and welcome him to Los Angeles and Trade Tech. 060724 |
