What about students who also take courses outside the District? If, for example, we know that a nonresident student is taking five units within the District, but also taking seven units at UCLA, can we still charge that student the nonresident tuition fee?
No. We cannot add units taken outside the District. So long as a nonresident student is taking six units or less within our District, he/she is eligible for the nonresident tuition exemption. Units taken concurrently at non-District institutions are not factored into the student's unit total for purposes of this exemption.
