Matriculation provides information about the college to all students, orientations for new students, and computerized and paper assessments as well as counseling for new and returning students.

Personnel - At this time the department has an associate dean as administrator, with 18 part-time faculty members and one full-time limited counseling faculty member as well as three classified employees and 18 student workers.

Equipment - Currently staff needs include a copy machine, a fax machine and computers that can access the DEC system and the Internet.

Facilities - The program's current space is not conducive to effective or efficient operations and it is too small. It is dingy and depressing and the area needs painting, new carpet, new dividers and an assessment lab. The program is not centrally located or appealing to students. Heating and air conditioning often do not work.

Future Program

With growth in college enrollment expected, it would also be logical for growth in the Matriculation area to occur to accommodate student need. However, because of budget cuts it is projected that the size of the program will keep pace with overall college enrollment in both the mid term (five years) and in the long term (ten years).

Equipment - Within five years all computers will need to be upgraded and able to handle CD-ROMs for new student orientation.

Facilities - Matriculation needs a larger space that will accommodate an Information Center with a reception area, an assessment Lab, an orientation area and a counseling area.

Staff Development - Staff Development topics that would be appropriate include working under pressure, keeping up morale and how to work with diverse populations.
