Current Program
Students enroll
in Geology and Geography classes to satisfy requirements
for transfer to four-year institutions. Several factors
have affected the courses offered in recent years, including
changes in students' basic skills and student interests,
college budget conditions and the addition of weekend
classes, facility needs, and changes in population,
the environment and economic conditions.
Degrees and Certificates - No degrees
or certificates are offered.
Personnel - Part-time faculty are assigned
to teach program courses.
Teaching Methodologies - Teaching methods
most often used include lecture, lecture/lab, lecture/demonstration,
large lecture/study groups, and labs. Some self-paced
learning is used.
Technology - No online courses or distance
education technologies are used at this time.
Equipment - An overhead projector needs
to be replaced.
Facilities - Facilities are satisfactory
at this time.
Future Program
Geology and Geography courses will need
to adapt in future years to changes in technology, student
academic preparation and facilities. Enrollment will
likely increase at the same rate as overall college
enrollment in both the mid term and long term. See Program
Projections.
Degrees and Certificates - No changes
in degrees or certificates are planned.
Personnel - See Projected Faculty and
Staff Needs.
Teaching Methodologies - No changes
in teaching methods are projected.
Technology - No alternative delivery
systems or distance education technology is expected
to be used in the next ten years.
Equipment - No additional equipment
needs have been identified at this time.
Facilities - No additional facility
needs have been identified at this time.
Staff Development - Activities could
include faculty attendance at professional conferences.
