Current Program

Students enroll in Geology and Geography classes to satisfy requirements for transfer to four-year institutions. Several factors have affected the courses offered in recent years, including changes in students' basic skills and student interests, college budget conditions and the addition of weekend classes, facility needs, and changes in population, the environment and economic conditions.

Degrees and Certificates - No degrees or certificates are offered.

Personnel - Part-time faculty are assigned to teach program courses.

Teaching Methodologies - Teaching methods most often used include lecture, lecture/lab, lecture/demonstration, large lecture/study groups, and labs. Some self-paced learning is used.

Technology - No online courses or distance education technologies are used at this time.

Equipment - An overhead projector needs to be replaced.

Facilities - Facilities are satisfactory at this time.

Future Program

Geology and Geography courses will need to adapt in future years to changes in technology, student academic preparation and facilities. Enrollment will likely increase at the same rate as overall college enrollment in both the mid term and long term. See Program Projections.
