Current Program
The History program offers a range
of courses including those required by the State of
California meeting graduation requirements in the areas
of the U.S. Constitution, California State and local
government and American history. The program reflects
the goals of the college's Mission Statement. Students
enroll in History courses for transfer and for personal
enrichment. Population changes have affected the types
of courses offered in recent years.
Degrees and Certificates
- No degrees or certificates are offered.
Personnel - Three
full-time and one part-time faculty are employed in
the program.
Teaching Methodologies
- Lecture is the most frequently used teaching method
in the department, with large lecture/study groups also
used.

classes are offered online at this time.
Equipment - Equipment
is adequate at this time.
Facilities - Facilities
are adequate at this time.
Future Program
It is expected
that changes in teaching methods, technology, college
recruitment strategies and curriculum development (with
more attention given to multi-culturalism) will have
an effect on the program within the next ten years.
Enrollment in the program should increase at the same
rate as the overall college enrollment. See Program
Projections.
Degrees and Certificates
- No degrees or certificates are expected to be offered
in the future.
Personnel - See
Projected Faculty and Staff Needs.
Teaching Methodologies
- Additional methods of teaching are expected to be
employed in the classroom in the mid term and the long
term.
Technology - Alternative
delivery methods, such as online courses and interactive
video, are expected to be used in the future.
Equipment - Additional
audio-visual equipment will be needed as enrollment
grows. File cabinets are needed for offices.
Facilities - A
larger number of classrooms, as well as a large lecture
room, will be needed. All rooms should be equipped with
projection devices and Internet accessibility.
Staff Development
- Training in different cultural groups in society would
be helpful.
