Current Program

Telecommunications, which until recently was a part of Staff Support Services, handles telephone services for the college. A new telephone system was recently implemented that allows greater use of technology. The switchboard is operational Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Personnel - The department includes three full-time classified staff.

Equipment - With a new telephone system recently installed, no repair or replacement of that system is needed at this time. Two computers used by the staff need to be replaced, as well as a copy machine.

Facilities - The location of the department is well-suited for its function and the size of the space is adequate. Improvements in ventilation and air circulation are needed, including repair of a window.

Future Program

The department will be merged with Staff Support Services, and as the Saturday program grows switchboard operations may expand to include Saturday coverage.

Equipment - Two computers need to be replaced within the next five years, and a new copy machine and one new computer need to be acquired for the additional staff.

Facilities - Any additional staff will need to be accommodated, although there is adequate space at this time for one additional person.

Staff Development - Seminars on new and emerging technologies, and staff training on work-related functions, would be welcome.
