Current Program

Staff Support Services is the umbrella for the college Mailroom and Copy Center, which are responsible for campus, courier and USPS mail services as well as the reprographics needs of the campus. The increase in student enrollment, the hiring of additional faculty and the addition of Winter Session all have contributed to the recent increase in workload in these areas.

Personnel - Three full-time classified staff and six student workers are employed in the department.

Equipment - Current 12-year-old reprographic equipment is being replaced with state-of-the-art equipment.

Facilities - The current location of the Copy Center - in a central campus area - is adequate. The Mailroom, which is located in the Administration Building, is convenient for adjacent buildings but is not as centrally located as the Copy Center. Space in the Copy Center is tight. Because of the addition of the new equipment, the office is being remodeled.

Future Program

With an increased demand for services and with advancements in reprographics technology, additional staff will be needed to provide required services in the mid term (five years) and in the long term (ten years).

In the mid term the department will be merged with the Telecommunications and Media Distribution Support Services departments.

Personnel - See Projected Faculty and Staff Needs.

Equipment - Two photocopiers and an offset press (or Duplex or Risograph) are needed within five years, as well as several digital photocopiers.

Facilities - Additional Mailroom space for more mailboxes and a common information area is needed. A student work area with seating is needed in the Copy Center. More space for equipment also is needed, as an imaging system utilized by most of the campus now shares space with paper and flammable supplies. Wiring in old buildings on campus is a concern and the Mailroom and Copy Center are not currently wired for network access.

Staff Development - Staff would benefit from customer service training, team-building activities, supervisory training for supervision of student workers and user training for new equipment and software.
