Welcome to the
Fall 2003 Semester! We hope this guide will provide answers to some
of your basic question. Please contact the Academic Senate Office
in A-239, (213) 763-7168 with any questions related to academic
or professional matters.
Adjunct Evening
Faculty should contact the Evening Administrator for assistance.
These duties rotate among the administrators. A monthly calendar
indicating which administrator is on duty, including phone and office
location will be posted in the mailroom on the Academic Senate Bulletin
Board, the illuminated Academic Senate Bulletin Board next to conference
room A-111 and on the Academic Affairs Office Bulletin Board. The
Evening Administrative Assistant is available:
Monday-Thursday
4:00-9:30 p.m. A-106 Phone (213) 763-7035. After 7:30pm, contact
administrator on duty.
Adjunct Saturday
Faculty should contact the administrator in charge for assistance.
Please refer to the calendar Saturday 8:am-5p.m.

What
is an "RPA" (Request for Personnel Action)? It's
a form initiated by your department chair or division administrator
to process your teaching assignment. You will be mailed a copy of
the assignment notification from the District Office once the assignment
has completed the process at the District Office. Contact
Richard Barron, ext. 3982 if you experience difficulties getting your
assignment processed or compensation.

How
is an assignment processed?
- An "RPA"
is initiated by your department chair or associate dean.
- It requires
the approval of the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- The Office
of Budget and Purchasing will verify the budget for the assignment
and will determine if any other action needs to take place. If
you have an extra assignment which exceeds 28 hrs. per pay period,
an overload letter will need to be processed by The Office of
Academic Affairs and approved.
- The Personnel
Office will process the assignment. Please contact Ms. Judy Tilley,
Personnel Supervisor at "K"-204, ext.7275 if you have
any question.

- Have
you submitted your employment documents including fingerprints?
- Have
you submitted to the District Office official transcripts
from colleges or universities attended?
- Do
you need to complete an I-9 form verifying your right to
work in the U. S.?
- Have
you had either a Chest X-ray or Intra-dermal tuberculin
skin test within the last 4 years?
- Have
you taken care of parking?

Do
I need to complete a payroll or timecard? No, however, in the
event of an illness, an illness card must be submitted to your department
chair upon your return.

Is
Direct Deposit of your pay warrant available? Yes! Check with
the Payroll/Personnel Office in "K"-204.

Note From The Payroll/Personnel Department |
The personnel
portion of our office is responsible for the processing of all
assignments on this campus. This is where you should first come
for any problems related to your assignments. You can also obtain
among many things, insurance claims forms, different benefit
cards such as, vacation, illness cards, address change cards,
w-4 cards etc. We also can give general information regarding
leaves, and goodies such as discount cards to the area Amusement
Parks. We also post the current job announcements for job opportunities
that are offered within the district.
Our payroll
portion functions mainly as a time reporting office only.
We ask that all time reports be submitted to our office in
a timely manner to help insure that your pay is accurate and
on time. A portion of our duties are to assist with any payroll
problems you may encounter. We ask that you contact this office
first before contacting the district payroll department. If
we can not resolve the problem for you, we can then refer
you to Richard Barron. If a problem occurs, organize all relevant
documents and contact Richard Barron (213) 763-3982 or his

Do
I have a mailbox? Yes,
all faculty members are entitled to mailboxes. Special services and
departments such as Payroll/Personnel have separate mailboxes near
the main counter in the mailroom. Adjunct faculty mailboxes are on
the East side of the mailroom. If you do not have a mailbox, see your
department head.

Where
may I get a copy of the teacher's contract? The
most current Collective Bargaining Agreement may be obtained from
John McDowell, AFT Chapter President, Ext 7129, Administration Building
Room 141.

Is
there a departmental course syllabus, course outline, or statement
of goals and objectives available for your class? Check
with your department chair, associate dean or dean. Course outlines
should be updated regularly. Please refer to the section on Model
Course Outlines on this disk for details.

do you contact for assistance?
Morning ONLY
adjunct faculty (Monday-Friday): Contact your department chair
FIRST! Assistance may also be provided by your Dean's Office or
ultimately, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, A-104, Estrelle

Weekend Adjunct
Faculty ONLY Contact: Saturday Administrator listed on the calendar
posted in the mailroom, Senate Bulletin Board near A-111 or Academic
Affairs Bulletin Board.

What
do I do if I am going to be absent? If
you are unable to meet your assigned evening class, please call:
- Before 4:30
p.m. Call EVENING OFFICE (213) 763-7035 so that a canceled class
notice and sign-in sheet may be posted at the location of the
class.
- Academic
Affairs Office (213) 763-7022.
- After 5:00
pm. Refer to calendar for administrator in charge.
You must contact
your immediate supervisor as soon as the need to be absent is known.
If you fail to notify, the absence shall be deemed as an unauthorized
leave. Please refrain from making private arrangements for substitutes
for any of your assigned classes without prior approval from your
dean.

shall I contact for emergencies? Contact
the Campus Sheriffs Department, 213 763-3611.

| Where
do I make copies? The
Copy Center, is located in "C"-100A . The "blue"
form allows you to make 1-30 copies instantly. A "pink"
form is needed for 31 or more copies. There may be a turnaround time
of one day for this service. Color copy services are available upon
prior approval. Any single request for over 1,000 images for student
use is considered a Course Packet and will be referred
to the campus bookstore. Please contact Bill Gasper, 213 763-7040
with any concerns.
Copyrights:
Assistance to acquire permission to duplicate copyrighted material
is available. The Copy Center cannot duplicate any copyrighted material
in any manner without prior permission.
Business Cards:
Faculty may request LATTC business cards in limited quantities. Request
forms are available in A108 and on the Academic Senate website.

Where
is the FAX Machine? Faculty
may send and receive faxes in "A"-127. Hours are Monday-Friday
from 8am-4:30pm. The FAX number is (213) 763-5393.

How
do I get voicemail? Adjunct
faculty should contact the department chair to establish this service.

Where
do I obtain teachers' copies of the class textbooks and supporting
materials? Check
with your department chair or textbook publisher.

How
do I report students grades? Refer
to the Attendance & Accounting Handbook available in Admissions
and Records, R-100, Academic Senate Office, Deans offices, on
the web or in Academic Affairs, A-104.

When
are grades due and when do students receive their grades? Please
refer to the Admissions and Records Calendar or consult your department
chair. The grade collection forms are usually placed in your mailbox
each semester. Please also refer to the Attendance
Accounting and Grading Forms Faculty Handbook. Grades are no longer
mailed, however students may purchase self stamped and addressed unofficial
grade cards which ask the instructor to list the final grade and then
return via mail to the student.

What
is the final exam schedule? Refer
to the listings printed in the Class Schedule each semester.

How
can I get instructional films, videotapes, and audio-visual materials?
Contact
Dr. Bill Troost, Instructional Media Specialist, 213 763-3985, L-212
to develop instructional materials for classroom presentations. The
staff may also assist with instructional equipment, website design,
video conferences and satellite transmissions. Please refer to the
Center
for Advancement of Teaching with Technology website at for a complete
list of services.
The Media Theatres in LRC 107 and 110 are equipped with most A-V features,
including internet access from your laptop. Please contact MIS on
ext. 7007 if you encounter difficulties accessing the internet. These
rooms must be scheduled through the Circulation Desk of the Library,
ext. 3950.

What
is the lead-time for ordering audio-visual and other materials? Your
department may own A-V equipment for faculty use. Check with your
department chair or Instructional Media Services. Faculty requesting
services of copy protected materials must have written permission
of the copy right holder and must sign a form indicating permission
from the holder has been granted. Please refer to the section on copy
rights and fair use on this disc.

What
arrangements should I make to bring a guest lecturer on campus? This
should be coordinated with your department chair. Your department
office may assist with parking arrangements, mailing a map to your
speaker or reserving one of the Media Theatres in the Learning Resource
Center.

What
is the library book checkout procedure? You
need a Library Card. Contact the Library on (213) 763-3950 for procedures.
You may also reserve the Media Theatres in LRC-107 or 110 by calling
the same number.

What
are the faculty parking guidelines? (Or How to AVOID getting parking
tickets). Parking permits must be displayed at all times when
a vehicle is parked on college property, weekends included. Failure
to display a valid college parking permit is subject to a $30 fine
under California Vehicle Code Section 21113(A). Parking lots B, Roof,
M, and P are designated for employee use. In the event you are ticketed,
an appeal form may be obtained from the campus Sheriffs office
located in D-150. For additional information or assistance,

What are my mandatory FLEX obligations
and where may I get the FLEX handbook and forms? Contact Alicia
Rodriquez-Estrada, Staff Development Coordinator, for complete details
regarding Professional Development or refer to the Professional
Development website.

Where
do I get Add and Exclusions cards? From
your department chair, the Evening Administrators Office, or
Admissions & Records, R-100 .

Where
can I find a schedule of campus activities/meetings? The Staff
Bulletin is available on the LATTC web site every week. A master
calendar is posted on the Staff
Development website. Hard copies are posted in the mailroom, Administration
Building west wing bulletin board, Personnel Office, Admissions, and
the Library.

How
may I get a key to my classroom? Please see your department chair
for a key request form or the Physical Plant website. In an emergency
or if you forget your key, the Sheriffs Office or the Evening
Administrator may assist.

District
Generated Form: Temporary, Permanent, Exclusion, Active/Inactive RostersPositive
Attendance Hours/Grade Collection Forms. These forms are placed in
your campus or department mailbox. Please refer to the Admissions
& Records Calendar or Department Chair for distribution and deadline
dates. Effective Fall,1997, grades were no longer mailed to students.
