School Ambassadors coordinate and promote the 21st
Century Program's activities with our partner schools. From
student recruitment, supervision and mentoring, and administration of Accuplacer tests, to other administrative tasks, each ambassador performs
a variety of critical functions in conjunction with the Program Director
to ensure a safe environment for learning and a successful after-school program experience.
They are chosen for their multitasking, organizational, and
team-building abilities -- valuable skills needed to communicate the values of
the 21st Century Program.
Currently attending schools in the Los Angeles
Community College District − such as LATTC or LACC − or
university − such as CalState, our School Ambassadors are
hard-working and bright students whose varied educational
backgrounds in both the arts and sciences make them capable mentors to
the learners. School Ambassadors can tutor in the core subjects to
reinforce the students' learned skills and
knowledge. They also review hard to grasp concepts in a more relaxed atmosphere
away from the classroom. The 21st Century Program believes
in leadership by example. School Ambassadors are big brothers and
sisters to the students.
The 21st Century Program is a training ground
for unique individuals who intend to become tomorrow's educators or leaders in
their chosen fields. Daily interaction with the students and middle-school
faculty and administration develops
real-world communication and management skills useful in any
professional setting.
