Final Examination & Make-up Exams
Assignment
of
Grades
Format of examinations will be
primarily objective with 1 essay. Bring
an 882-ES Scantron sheet to each exam.
A
total of six examinations will be given,
including the final. Each examination
will be worth 100 points, including the final, which is cumulative.
Approximately fifteen quizzes
will count as 10 points each for purposes of determining the final
grade. You
must bring a quiz strip to each quiz.
The
lowest quiz grade will be dropped. There
will be no make-up quizzes. Make-up
exams will not be the same as the class exam and will include essay
questions
and will be given the same day as the final. If you miss more than one
examination or quiz you will receive a zero for what you missed.
In
addition, up to 25 points will be given for cooperation and
participation,
including attendance, tardiness, participation in lab clean-up.
Attendance
may be taken at any time for participation points.
Practicums
will cover the material the laboratory.
They will be worth 50 points apiece. There is never any make-up
for
practicums.
The
cat dissection will be graded for 25 points, you will be graded both on
the
quality of the dissection and the degree of your participation
as
judged by the instructor. The instructor
may require that laboratory write-ups be approved by himself before you
leave
the laboratory.
Some
of the laboratory reports will be turned in for 10 points credit. You may not ‘dry lab’ and turn in reports for
which the work was
not
performed. You may only attend the lab
section for which you are enrolled.
Your
grade will be determined by adding points for both lecture and
laboratory. Scale: >90% = A; >80% =
B; >65% =
C; >55% = D; <55% = F.
You
may not wear a hat with a brim to any exam
or practicum.
Supplies
Cat specimen from the student
bookstore. (PLU21 for about $15.00)
Write your name on the receipt and bring it to me by the end of
the 5th
week.
Latex
gloves and shirt covering to wear during dissections.
A set of colored pencils for sketches.
Laboratory
Safety
1.
No eating or drinking in the laboratory.
2.
If body fluids (urine, blood) are being
studied, work only with your own.
3.
Materials that come into contact with body
fluids are disposed of in “Biohazard” containers.
4.
Materials that may cut, like needles or edged
glass must be disposed of in “Sharps” containers.
Cheating
&
Behavior
With the exception certain of
lab worksheets which may be the work of two students:
All material submitted for grading must be
entirely your own work.
A
first offense of cheating will result in a zero being assigned as the
grade for
that assignment and the filing of a report with the Dean of Students. It will be considered
equally
an offense to falsify work as your own
or to allow another access to your work.
If, in my opinion, you are
disrupting the class I may suspend you for two days and require that
you speak
to the Vice President, Dr. Theda Barrett, before returning to class.
