What Is A Learning Community?

  • A Learning Community is a group of students who co-enroll in 2 or more courses with a common area of interest or career goal
  • LC courses can be from the same discipline (English 21 and English 46) or across disciplines (History 11 and Speech 101)
  • LC instructors work together to integrate their course content and assignments around a certain theme
  • LATTC offers special LC for students in vocational programs where English and Math classes are especially designed for their trade
  • LC courses include a variety of learning modes such as large and small group work, project-based and problem-based learning, field trips, case studies, to name a few
  • LC courses are offered in the fall, and spring semesters, and in the winter and summer intersessions
