What Strategies Have Been Proven To Be Effective For Marketing Learning Communities Courses To Students?
Continuing students: In-class presentations and registration.
(1) Make Classroom presentations:
-
Identify classes with potential students for your LC's. These would include your current classes as well
-
Contact instructors to arrange for your classroom presentation
-
Contact Learning Communities Office (213) 763-7387/7385 to discuss the possibility and guidelines for in-class registration
-
Recruit student champions to join you for your presentations
-
Prepare a short "pitch" to include the following:
Brief explanation on what is a LC and how it functions (emphasize co-enrollment), what courses will be linked, the theme and title of the LC, and what benefits it offers to students.
-
Make your presentation and distribute flyers. Emphasize that students need to consider their Accuplacer results in order to register for the appropriate classes
-
Have student fill-our Add Cards, where possible
