Spring '05 Learning Communities

Increase your college and career success!

Become part of an exciting student success program!

If you are interested in Language Arts and Transfer Courses, Automotive Technologies, Culinary Arts/Professional Baking, Construction Technologies,or Electronics Technologies classes

Enroll in a Learning Community!

A Learning Community (LC) is a group of students who co-enroll in two or more classes with a common area of interest or career goal. LC classes can be from the same discipline (English 21 and English 46) or across disciplines (History 11 and Speech 101).

LC instructors work together to integrate their course content and assignments around a certain theme. Some LCs are geared for students in career and technical programs where English and Math classes are especially designed for their trade.

Benefits of a Learning Community

  • The linking of courses will increase your understanding of the subject matter since the courses are more comprehensive, relevant and understandable.
  • You will be better prepared for a career in your chosen field.
  • Enrollment in LC courses will help you reach your goal of transferring
    to a four-year university.
  • LC instructors and counselors work together to help you improve your grades.
  • You will enjoy a friendly and supportive learning environment since you will share more than one course with the same classmates.
