Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will I receive EOPS in the winter or summer?

  • No. We only offer our services with in the Fall & Spring semesters

2) How many times do we meet per semester?

  • 1st  Contact SEP - Student Educational Plan
  • 2nd Contact - In-turn progress assembly
  • 3rd  Contract Priority Registration R-100

3) Does Orientation count as my 1st contact?

  • No. Orientation does not count for your 1st contact. You must complete your Student Educational Plan (SEP) with your EOPS Counselor as your first contact.

4) Will I be penalized if I do not make all 3 contacts?

  • Yes. If not all contacts are made especially the 1st contact (SEP) your Book Grant will be reduced to $50 for the next semester.

5) How much will you receive from the Book Grant?

  • Students in their first semester in EOPS will receive a $150.00 book grant.
  • Students who are continuing in the EOPS program who have completed their 3 contacts, especially their SEP, will receive a $250.00 book grant.
  • Continuing EOPS students who have not completed their 3 contacts, especially their SEP, will receive a $50.00 book grant and must attend orientation again.

6) Do I receive money for the books?

  • Students do not receive cash . An account is set up in the Trade-Tech College bookstore.

7) Can I purchase anything other than books?

  • You may only purchase your books and certain school supplies required by your instructors

8) Who do I talk to about EOPS?

  • A-133 Questions about eligibility and book grant. (213) 763-7098
  • A-137 Questions about counseling the CARE program and EOPS tutoring         (213) 763-7117

9) Do I have a specific counselor in EOPS?

  • No, you can request to see a certain counselor, but any EOPS counselor can assist you.
