According to an ITAA report there were close to one million jobs created in 2001 and over 400,000 were unfilled by year-end. Over the next three to five years IT and non-IT companies will have the greatest demand for professionals with and web related skills.

Hiring managers placed importance on experience ... and on rated certification. Vendor-specific certification, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), are the lead certifications held by many IT professionals. The report further states that community colleges were seen as a good place for applicants to obtain needed skills through networking certification. It also notes that large IT employers prefer the West for creating IT positions.

In spite of economic fluctuations, studies show continued demand for IT workers with skills gained through certification programs. In addition, key sources state the IT job market and IT certification have indicated that certifications serve to increase the annual salaries and upward mobility of IT professionals.

The TCP Magazine 2002 Salary Survey indicates that the future for graduates from LATTC's Cisco Academy Program can look forward to a rewarding career in IT networking. The survey notes that students spend, at a minimum, $897 on their study. You can get all the approved Cisco training for CCNA Certification at the LATTC Electronics Department for a fraction of that cost.

There are no required prerequisites for the CCNA program; however, you must take the required classes in sequence. It is recommended that the student have some computer or electronic experience before starting the program. Simply register for one of the following classes:
