SDETI has teamed up with the LA Infrastructure and Sustainable Jobs Collaborative. This enables the Institute to employ a comprehensive approach for addressing industry workforce needs--and more specifically the workforce needs relative to sustainable technology and resources.

The Sustainable Development Education and Training Institute (SDETI)
The mission of the Institute is to improve the economy and quality of life of the City and the region by building a local workforce skilled in the planning, management, and installation of renewable energy technologies.
The Institute is funded by a grant from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power
- Goal of SDETI
- To build an education and training infrastructure in sustainable development that will help reduce the cost of energy, strengthen the City and regional economy, and improve the quality of life for all Angelinos.
- SDETI Objectives
- To increase the number of Angelinos trained in new emerging energy technologies such as installation of solar systems on roofs, sustainable landscaping, alternative fuels, etc.
- To develop well-articulated sustainable development education and training programs that will support entry level to professional career development needs of the industry
- To increase energy conservation awareness, behaviors, and career exposure of K-12 students

Green Education and Training Programs Launched
As part of the SEDTI, Los Angeles Trade-Technical College has launched several "green" workforce education and training programs, including in fall, 2008 the Solar Electric Designer/Installer Program.
