The mission of the Institute is to improve the economy and quality of life of the City and the region by building a local workforce skilled in the planning, management, and installation of renewable energy technologies.

Green Education and Training Programs Launched
As part of the SEDTI, Los Angeles Trade-Technical College has launched several "green" workforce education and training programs, including in fall, 2008 the Solar Electric Designer/Installer Program.
