President’s Weekly Message 9-24-18 PDF
Good Monday morning to you, September 24th, 2018—
I hope you are doing well so far this semester. I will be out of the office this coming week. VP Kaneesha Tarrant will be the acting president in my absence.
On Tuesday, we will join the district and the nation in marking National Voter Registration Day. I am hoping that as many of you as are eligible, will be registered to vote for the upcoming November 6th election. In addition to local and statewide office, there are a host of initiatives, some of which will affect the success of students on our campus. From 11:00am to 2:00pm you can get help registering to vote in the North Quad, outside of Mariposa Hall. It’s also Constitution Day and the ASO will be giving out free copies of the U.S. Constitution.
The St. Francis Center’s food pantry takes place every Tuesday in the K-Mall. Come by at 10:30am and bring your student ID. This will allow you to pick up fresh produce, food items and drinks for free.
We will culminate the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month this Wednesday 11:30am in the South Tent. We will welcome our Chancellor, Dr. Francisco Rodriguez, and there will be a great band playing at noon, our friends at Taco Taxi will be here cooking some great food and we will be announcing both our student essay winner as well as the winners of the LFSA raffle. Please come by and help us celebrate. The Latinx Faculty and Staff Association has done a good job putting this together and supporting students so please do stop by.
