Today launches Go Week. It is the day we welcome our students to the 2018-2019 school year. We are going to have thousands of new students who have never been to Trade-Tech and maybe are the first ones of their family to ever go to college. Put yourself in their shoes and remember your first days on a college campus. It is so critical that we make every student feel welcome, so please go above and beyond to offer directions and make it clear that we are here for them.
We are continuing our outreach, partnership and marketing efforts. All of you have contributed to that work, and it will take the same commitment this week, month and year. As mentioned in the Classified Convocation and Faculty Convocation, the new funding formula requires an equal commitment to access (enrollment), equity (student supports including financial aid) and success (pathway completions and careers) for us to put our best foot forward.
Please remember that if students have questions, you can always direct them to the Bridges to Success center, in Mariposa Hall Room 105. There will also be information booths set up outside of Mariposa and Juniper Halls with folks ready to answer any questions. The booths will have printed lists of open classes in case students need quick access to that information from our institutional effectiveness folks.
One of the most asked questions during the first week is about parking. Our sheriff’s team will NOT be ticketing the first week for those lacking a parking permit. But please tell students to buy their parking permits in the Business Office as soon as possible.
